MTS, also called AVCHD, is a brand new high definition (HD) digital video camera recorder format. MTS files are based on the MPEG4 CODEC and MTS videos can be burned to Blu-ray discs and played in compatible devices, such as Blu-ray disc players and the Sony PlayStation3. Digital Audio Tape(DAT), is a signal recording and playback medium developed by Sony in the mid 1980s.
